Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist Test Prep Training course

Train with us to "Ace" your exam to become a Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist!

In 2020, California passed a law (Senate Bill 803) that makes it possible for certified peer support specialists to be eligible for Medi-Cal reimbursement through county mental health plans and substance use disorder plans (behavioral health plans). This important step in delivering behavioral health care values the experience that peers — persons with lived experience — can provide and expands counties’ capacity to care for those who need them.

Prepare to take your test by studying with a CalMHSA Subject Matter Expert (SME) who assisted in creating the 2023-2024 Exam!

We don't provide peer support training, we provide test-taking tools! No matter where you received your CalMHSA-approved Initial Training, we will help you pass your certification test. Learn tried and true test-taking tactics,  bolster your knowledge of the CalMHSA core competencies, and increase your chances of success!

National Peer Support Specialist Continuing Education Courses

Train with us to become a Community Health Worker or a Peer Support Specialist!  The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) finalized reforms to Medicare payment for 2024 that will expand access to behavioral health care services. Notably, the reforms increase coverage for services provided by community health workers (CHWs) and peer support specialists. We train potential peer support specialists to the National Association of Peer Support Specialists standards to offer a course accepted in 11 different states and internationally*

The policy changes provide more flexibility in the types of providers that are eligible to be reimbursed by Medicare and also provide additional resources for both early intervention and crisis intervention services. The reforms also elevate the importance of addressing the social needs of beneficiaries and encourage and support the provision of community-based care. By creating the capacity and flexibility to implement culturally and linguistically effective services, the policies also can help to promote racial equity.

OPG provides training related to the treatment of gambling disorder for counselors throughout the state. OPG’s prevention program is comprised of a helpline, training and technical assistance, public awareness campaigns and research.

If you or someone you love is affected by gambling disorder, there is no-cost, confidential help available.
